Holy smokes! The Rivarossi Y6b came out in 1965. That was only 43 years ago!
Please don't make me feel older that I am or look!

I have given up on the Manufacturers. The BLI Y6b, while it LOOKS good, and
RUNS GOOD, it articulates WRONG! The Powerhouse series of Y3’s got it
right. So, what is BLI’s excuse for copying Rivorosi’s 55 year old concept?
Same for the BLI “A”. That was a bad choice they made. OK, lets move on.
I had thought that Bowser could generate a better M2, Or older M class.
They would pull better sine they were metal. Better opportunity to super detail
one too. There are enough valve gear parts offered by Bowser to piece
together the Baker-Pilliod design valve gear. Bowser could make the 475
mechanics, frame and 2 choices of tender. With a different boiler and larger tender,
you can pull off a M2. Imagine a FLEET of M class engines!

Buying ‘sight unseen’ isn’t something I do very much. Pre-ordering and
getting junk is my worst nightmare. Manufacturers have a responsibility to their
investors to make good decisions. “Dumping” the N&W engines was fine for
me, I picked up #2200 w/out DCC for $240. If we get those 800 dollar checks
from Uncle Sam, Maybe I can get 3 more!

Jim:
Most manufactures don't mind "crap" if the poducts sell well, but BLI had to
dump the N&W products because of poor sales.
Remember that they tried to produce the N&W caboose and the H series PRR and
N&W covered hoppers, but both were cancelled due to lack of
reservations/support. Even in O scale there has been cancellations due to lack of support -
ex. Sunset K's, PSC and Overland (only 15 orders) 4-8-0 M projects, and
Golbal O scale EL2s (only 5 orders)

"after what our society members bashed BLI over the "A" and the "Y". Would
you do another project after people treated your like crap?"

Stephen,
I, for one, am tired of hearing this type of "crap". If a manufacturer is as
thin skinned and immature as you are making them out to be, then they don't
deserve to be in the business to begin with!
I've had this conversation with some one before. He whined about
manufacturing parts for a client, the client replies that the parts were not correct and
the guy making the parts says I'm not making anything for them again. The
solution is as simple as the old adage, "Any job worth doing, is worth doing
right the first time".
Any criticisms here of the A and Y6b have been mild compared to some of the
"crap" that modelers have had to put up with in O scale. And who's fault is
it? The manufacturers! Some don't do their research and some make poor choices
in the manufacturing process. Who suffers the most? The modeler or the
manufacturer?
Few manufacturers, if any, will admit to a mistake. Hopefully, most will
learn from their mistakes and do better the next time. I'm still waiting.
