I have several of both locomotives and hands down the BLI outperforms the spectrum. Definitely worth the extra money. That's just my opinion. Chris Wrenn

Have not seen the BLI model up close; but I do own several Spectrums. I can't imagine how the BLI model would be enough better to justify that much extra cost. I would say, go with the Spectrum. Jim Nichols

List,

I am considering purchasing either a BLI or Spectrum J class locomotive. I am not interested in sound, so if I were to purchase the BLI locomotive, I would buy a non-sound equipped version. Based on detail and running characteristics, is there a consensus as to which is the better model?

Thanks,
Carl Miller
