VGN Bridges Without Walkways ... UGH !

Cousin Abe's tale reminded me of a newspaper story from the eighties
(1980s) just before the railroads coerced the Virginia legislature to
change the law requiring cabooses. It seems that a westbound stopped in
Kinney Yard leaving its cab high out on Cotton Mill Trestle in the dark,
wee hours of the morning. When the relatively new conductor stepped off the
cab, (she) didn't realize (her) mistake until it was too late. This one has
never left me and still fills me with sympathetic pity. -Ed Burnett,
