2-6-2 Mikado

N&W was one of the few railroads that never owned a Mikado. The Western Maryland was another.

The WSS Mikados were not the only 2-8-2s shopped at Roanoke. During WWII several Chicago and North Western Mikados were shopped there on the way to the Seaboard Air Line which had leased them for temporary service.

Apparently the Virginian ran 2-6-2 Mikado class steam locomotives (at least that's what a search of the NWHS Archives suggests to be the case).

Did the N&W run any Mikado steam locomotives? Perhaps after the merger with Virginian?

If so, are photos available, or information on N&W locomotive numbers?
