I have grandfather J.L. Akers' "Rules and Regulations for the Government of the Operating Department" dated November 17, 1915. Are these common/rare?

Dear Colin I too have a Virginian latern with a "K #". I asked Mr. Skip Salmons and one other Virginian enthusiast about it several months ago and have not heard back. Please let me know if you are able to sove the mystery. Cal Reynolds.

Subject: Serial numbers on Virginian Railway lanterns
Just joined the NW Mailing List. Am a life long rail fan (particularly the Virginian & Norfolk & Western Railways), but consider myself only a amateur compared to all of you on the mailing list.
My question is about serial numbers (the letter K followed by numbers) on the lantern lids of Virginian Railway lanterns. Is there any known way to trace particular serial numbers (issued to who, where used, when used, etc.)? Thank you in advance for any help or assistance. Kindest regards.
