Serial numbers on Virginian Railway lanterns

I have grandfather J.L. Akers' "Rules and Regulations for the Government of the
Operating Department" dated November 17, 1915.  Are these common/rare?

Dear Colin I too have a Virginian latern with a "K #".  I asked Mr. Skip Salmons
and one other Virginian  enthusiast about it several months ago and have not
heard back. Please let me know if you are able to sove the mystery.  Cal
