Larry is correct about the cost and the weight.

It took me nearly six months of afternoons to completely disassemble,
sandblast, repaint, rewire and restore the signal. Somewhere around here I have a
list of the total cost for restoring mine. The total came to about $1,400 real
dollars. Some of the work was donated by friends. Probably the most
expensive item was the foundation which I believe was about $400 - 12 years ago. My
restoration was for the complete signal and installation along my driveway.

The pole itself was so heavy it took three men to lift one end to get it on
a truck to take it for sandblasting and primer. If I happen upon the cost
breakdown I will pass it along.

After working on this restoration, and a side dump ballast hopper on the
East Broad Top, I have a better respect for what it would take to rebuild a
steam locomotive!

Thanks,
