intermodal on N&W/SOU passenger trains

Would someone please supply info on books, etc about the "flex van" of both Southern and NYC. As a teenage traveling within the family business locations in Cincinnati and Columbus I passed NYC's Cincinnati flex van terminal many times and I was awestruck by the operation and have always thought that the demise of this concept was premature.

Marty;

The Southern FlexiVans only lasted about two years before they were sold off to the NYC. There is a partial picture of one in one of the recent books on the Southern. I'll try to dig it out tonight, which is how Walthers found out about them, by having that book.

I know that Southern sometimes placed intermodal equipment on the rear of it's passenger trains, particularly in the 1960's. Was this practice ever used on the joint N&W/Southern passenger trains?
