Marty;
I believe that is the correct book. I wasn't able to find out any other info on the cars even from either SR group or the appropriate pepole who shot the Southern at that time, when Walthers asked me about them.
I've tried various internet searches as well, and have drawn blanks, as the road numbers originally used by Southern for those cars were re-used by the 89' all-purpose flat that were bought later and are still in service.
Regards,
Russ Goodwin

I think I have that book, Morning Sun's Southern Railway Through Passenger Trains, with a Flexi-Van trailing the Peach Queen. I hadn't found any other information on those cars, so thanks for the tip on their short service life on Southern.

Marty; The Southern FlexiVans only lasted about two years before they were sold off to the NYC. There is a partial picture of one in one of the recent books on the Southern. I'll try to dig it out tonight, which is how Walthers found out about them, by having that book. Regards,Russ Goodwin

I know that Southern sometimes placed intermodal equipment on the rear of it's passenger trains, particularly in the 1960's. Was this practice ever used on the joint N&W/Southern passenger trains?
