I’ve installed both the WOW sound and the Soundtraxx Tsunami 2 decoders and both work well. IMO, the WOW has better N&W whistles and also a really nice playable whistle. For me, speed matching is much easier with the WOW decoder using the audio assist feature. The Tsunami 2 seems to have a better chuff sound. The Tsunami 2 also has more CVs for motor control but frankly, I’ve always found the factory settings to be fine—i.e., the extra Motor control/tuning CVs don’t do much for me. I use 2 high bass speakers which easily fit into a Y-size tender. Also, I’d recommend having the keep-alive module—just a few bucks more, but well worth it. At the end of the day, I like the WOW better.

Not only do they have a diverse set of high quality sounds to choose from, but they also offer the most realistic operation of any decoders on the market with the throttle and brakes controlled independently, allowing for proper coasting until brakes are applied, and the ability to release and reapply brakes in stages at any time.
