nice work! I also think that modifying the standard cupola is the
best way to go given the difficulty finding a Moloco kit and what you said
about fit-up. I have a blue C31 in-transit to me; should arrive tomorrow or
Monday. A friend is making the tank for both of us.
What blue paint matches the Atlas color? Must be lacquer-based
I have no
experience (or interest to learn) with acrylics. I only plan to modify the
side by cutting in new windows and patching the old ones so a slight
difference in blue tint can easily be covered with weathering powders.

I haven't been on this list for very long, but I've never seen it discussed.
I 3D printed the propane tank on Shapeways and used the Moloco cupola on
mine. I asked about it on one of the old Yahoo groups and Jonathan Vincent
collected some measurements for me. I got drawings for it from the NWHS.
Here's the 3D printed propane tank model:
And here's a shot of my caboose:
I didn't get the Moloco side filler parts to fit perfectly on my caboose,
but on subsequent models I've done a better job. The one beef I have with
the Moloco parts for this is the non-overhanging roof. It's good for the
Great Northern caboose it was designed for, but a stand-in for the C31. I'd
start with a standard cupola caboose if I were to build this model today,
but it wasn't an option at the time.

Has correcting the Atlas C31 cupola, adding the propane tank, etc. been
discussed on this list? If so, what are the archives dates? There is
no search option for multiple archives that I can find. Whats the
recommended paint to touch up the modified cupola sides?
