Color of houses/baracks

Hi,

I am building a section foreman's house and some other misc houses for the
crew.

Question: what is the history of the colors used to paint them?  I am
modeling a freelance of either the tug fork or Buchanan branches around the
20's-50's

Would they match the depots?
