It is interesting to note that when companies like Intermountain first began offering assembled HO freight cars made in China, the cost was in the $20-$25 range. Then Kadee came out with their assembled cars made in the USA, with a price around $30. Shortly thereafter, the Chinese built cars became $30, too.
If they were on the shelf next to each other, I can tell you from experience that most people will choose the lower price, even knowing the more expensive one is made here. Introducing the wait times would be an interesting variable.
