Jim,
     The bells were mounted on top to begin with. It depended on which 
batch (builder) as to if it was mounted ahead of or behind the sand box 
because the top mount check valve took up the other space. Obviously on 
your model there is only one choice. Later in life the bell was moved 
down under the left front steps. I think it was about the same time that 
the J's had their bells were mounted under the steps.  I'm sure others 
here have the exact time line, I just don't have that info at my 
fingertips right now.
