HO Scale Phase III RS-3

Mike and others,

The dynamic brakes on the N&W and Interstate were different.  I am guessing that there was an increase in braking ability that required more cooling than the original design.  The original design is available as a  detail part from several places, one being Miniatures by Eric and Detail Associates in their Hammerhead kit.  Here are my pics of the RS3 in Roanoke at  VMT.  The design of these dynamics caused the number board to be moved and that has held me up on a model.  Now I am just going to patiently wait for the Bowser model.  There is someone on Shapeways that has designed this short hood but I cannot find it, again.

As a side note of being strange, one of the last Interstate units was an original demo unit.  At what point did the long hood get changed from a Phase 1 to Phase 3?  Also, most EMD E and F units have plain stainless Farr grilles, Southern’s ALCO PA’s had painted Farr grilles.  I am still interested in any photos of the Southern PA’s in Bristol!
