That's correct Mike S. Sand hatch. Round like that on most second generation EMD diesels while first generation EMD's had more square shaped covers.

All the best, mike garber

So is the hatch behind the bell for sand on the GP35?
I will have to put the line and hatch on my SD's and GP's...
  Wait'll they see...

If this goes through, attached is a photo of the air line on a Southern GP35 which may be similar.

  Stephen.,

I donated the bell from 1709 to the museum at Spencer last year. Give them a call to see what you can arrange.

Stephen, to my eye, the Southern and N&W SD45's both had the same bell and bracket.? The bell and bracket on some of the earlier first generation diesels seemed to be different with Southern's looking like a shop fabricated piece.? Hope this helps.? That thing will be a beast in O scale!!!

Stephen, I've always felt the bell brackets were a little bit different depending on what locomotive you are interested in.? If you can say what loco you are interested in it might help a bit.

Does anyone know if the N&W and Southern bells are the same?
