Class k and spectrum heavy mountain

David,

None of the K-1 class were ever streamlined. Only the K-2 and K-2a 4-8-2s received the shrouds. PSC (Precision Scale) used to make a brass N&W doghouse. I don't know if it is still available. Maybe one of the old AHM/Rivarossi Y-6b tenders would help as they had a plastic version of the same PSC doghouse.

Thanks again, were there still not streamlined K-1's in 1950? If they were in freight service i assume i need to find where to get/make a doghouse also?

Thanks

David

One comment - the K2 locomotives were all streamline in the1940's shortly after WWII

Hi all,
I am considering an n&w kitbash effort. Does the group have any advice on where to start if i desired to take a bachmann spectrum heavy mountain and updated it to a 1950 (ish) non-streamlined class k....either k2 or k1? I see one major difference in air pumps and feedwater heater.....anything else?
