Actually, my question is more about isolation of the motor from the frame. Is it needed? I hate the little plugs, even if they are Deans, so I have been hard wiring the harnesses, isolating the drawbars, and modifying the tenders to isolate the trucks from the tender frame so I can use one truck for each rail for power. I cooked a Digitrax 163 decoder in January, and haven’t tried again on that engine. I’ve pathetically just run the other M as DC. Still unpainted.

Mark,
I've installed Tsunamis in my Sunset M & M-2s. They fit without any real issues in both tenders. I have a 12,000 gallon tender on the M and a 9,000 gallon on the M-2. My other M-2s have the 12,000 & 15,000 gallon ones but I haven't done any installations on them.
Everything is in the tender and a pair of plugs run the motor & lighting to the engine.

I plan to install DCC into my pair of HO scale Sunset M's. They run smooth
as silk on DC, but I need the lights and such to work as well. Has anyone
had good luck putting the DCC into these cramped lil models? I want to use
a 163 decoder.
