Per my Dad recollections, Y’s did operate over the North Carolina extension.

Hi Gene;

A and J - definitely no. Too big/wide/rigid.

Y - maybe - they were very flexible.

Quick question: Did any Y's, A's, or J's operate on the branch? I think I
remember reading that they were too heavy to go over the bridges.
