I would say both photos are of the pre-1949 Arrow using the heavyweight DE diners and PM coaches. They were assigned to the Arrow in 1946 and ran until the new cars ordered from Pullman-Standard were delivered in 1949.

Alvie, if you're truly interested in the N&W passenger cars you really need to go to the Societys website and order a few of the great books available on the subject. Most of your questions will be answered and you'll be able to match up available cars to the real ones on the N&W.

Can anyone tell me what might these cars in the photo links be? They appear to be heavyweights, I am thinking coaches. While going through the N&W image collection of VA-tech, I saw in these couple photos, http://spec.lib.vt.edu/imagebase/norfolksouthern/F1/NS3963.JPG and http://spec.lib.vt.edu/imagebase/norfolksouthern/F1/NS3681.JPG they do not appear to be much like the other cars run on the Arrow, but the N&W Modelling Guide gave no indication that the train ran anything except the three varieties of lightweight coaches, diner and observation cars.

Thank you in advanceAlvie
