Stephen,

I have previously explained the Society's position on a project to
produce and sell an "N&W red" paint mix; I won't belabor it here.

I will be direct about your criticism of the Society, because someone
has to call you on it. You do a disservice to all the volunteers who
put in countless hours to keep the Society among the front rank of
railroad historical groups and who help maintain and grow an Archive
second to none...from which we have provided data to numerous
manufacturers for the production of VGN and N&W models. Could we do
more, of course...if we had the volunteer manpower. But I am proud of
what our members do on a volunteer basis each month.

I have said it before and I will say it once again: we have limited
manpower and limited financial resources. We focus on projects that
we can do well and which have an acceptable financial return. We
think our members expect that of its leadership. We currently have
two major books in the pipeline which require a significant financial
investment.
