Man. I had ZERO problems getting the part I needed for my Y3. I talked to a fellow named Larry who checked on the model I had, since they have lifetime warranty on parts, he checked, the part I needed was in stock, and he got my address and mailed it to me.
RIvarossi actually is owned by Hornsby not by Walthers so I don't think you would have any luck at all calling Walthers for Rivarossi parts.

Ordering life-like parts from Walthers requires patience and expect to spend time on the phone holding. Cal Reynolds

My problems with the Proto 2000 Y3 are quite different. I have yet to run mine due to track problems- having to buy wider radius track to replace the Bachmann 22' and 18' radius track that had proved so problematic with my large steam. I got my Y3 used from a person in Arizona, and when it arrived, it must have been roughly handled somehow during shipping, as the drawbar and bell was broken. I have yet to order new parts, as the Walthers takeover of Lifelike seems to change the whole situation somewhat. (If any of you know the new situation with ordering parts for the Y3, please be kind to let me know.)
