Abe, inventor of the turnip signal, and all,
The attached photo on Ebay:

appears to show electric "marker" lights below the semaphore arms as well
as the doll posts.  Would these have been used to make the dolls visible at
night?  Would they have shown red?  How about the one below the two-arm
semaphore?  Would this have been used to indicate stop and stay at some
point?  From the cab-side lettering, I would estimate the era to be late
1930s.
