The 3rd, 4th and 5th orders of SD40-2's were numbered in the #6073-6207 series in order to align with the C&O fleet that was rumored to have been in the works at the time.

There are two separate rosters of SD40-2 locomotives. 1600 and 6000 tow 6200. Is this because the 1600 numbering ran out or are the two groups very different inside or out. Are there other series of numbers for the "same" locomotives like this?
GP38s are 4100
GP9s run from 500-920 or so where GP18 start (approximately).
