As I noted yesterday, that guy on eBay is selling copies of Otto Perry’s N & W photos that can be viewed for free in great clarity on the Denver Public Library’s web site (who own the copyrights on the photos, by the way). The photo in question definitely was taken in Lynchburg VA. The annotation on the photo states “train #8, passenger train; 7 cars. Photographed: Lynchburg, Va., June 26, 1950”

As a few others have commented, that sign sure looks like "Lynchburg VA" 



And the photo below appears to be taken from the other end of the same platform.

Although there is no "VA" at the end of this sign. 

The ebay photo shows a K2a with no brake vents punched yet, so does that make it pre-50's?
