LC1 and 2

The LC 1 had trucks that articulated like a modern diesel locomotive. Correct?
Did the LC 2 have “rigid” drivers that were driven from each end like duplex steam?  I see that the center two drivers aren’t connected to each other. Am I correct that the LC 2 was not articulated?

If I’m correct, why did they change designs?
