The engine got new cab wood a few years ago in Spencer from the efforts of one of the volunteers.  What you are seeing might just be dirt as the roof is green, although it looked hard to tell.  Not sure how well it is being cleaned. A random fact that won't win you a round Jeopardy.....the roof that was replaced a couple of years ago was the same one put in back in '82.  Thank you, Will Sadler

Maybe not rot but in poor condition.Roger HuberDeer Creek Locomotive Works

Roger,I don't see enough wood to even have "a lot of rot".BTW, the photos were taken recently.Jimmy LisleSent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone-------- Original message --------From: NW Mailing List via NW-Mailing-List <nw-mailing-list at nwhs.org> Date: 10/9/23 9:45 PM (GMT-05:00) To: NW Mailing List via NW-Mailing-List <nw-mailing-list at nwhs.org> Cc: NW Mailing List <nw-mailing-list at nwhs.org> Subject: Re: Class J/K class lights Most voltages I've seen on steamers was 32vdc.Don't know when these pictures were taken but it looks like the cab wood has a lot of rot. Roger HuberDeer Creek Locomotive Works

That voltmeter runs pretty high. What were typical voltages in that day and age? 48volts sticks in my head?Nice photos, Jimmy. Please pass along a thanks to Chad. MattOn Oct 9, 2023, at 4:45 PM, NW Mailing List <nw-mailing-list at nwhs.org> wrote:

There was some discussion about the lighting of the streamlined
class lights on the Class J & K locos. With the help of my
friend Chad Jordan, he has passed along a photo of the switchbox
inside the cab of the 611 that shows how the switch selects each
color to be displayed. Note, "white to the left, "green" to the
      right.
