Jim,

Starting as a student, I worked with Bill _Sh_umate, a computer systems 
engineer in the EE Dept at Va Tech. Learning of my interest in the N&W, 
he related the loss of his father as engineer on the 2153 when it 
exploded in Wytheville on December 12, 1955.
