A Class Bar Pilot

 The solid pilots were applied at the same time the tenders were rebuilt with roll tops over the coal and higher cisterns, starting late 1945 or early 1946.

 How long did the As have their original steel bar pilots (is that the proper term?) before the N&W changed them to the more modern pilots that they retained until their end of service? I've seen a photo of an A pulling a troop train during WWII and it still had the bar pilot.
