Mines serviced by both N&W and C&O?

There was a mine that the C&O picked up between Holden and Delbarton (in WV). I think it would have been easier for the N&W to get there, but the C&O prevailed. If you were traveling from Logan to Williamson along old or present US Rt 119, it would have been off to the left after going over the mountain outside of Holden.

Gilbert, WV, saw an exchange of cars. My memory fails me, but I think the cars were loaded on the Virginian, then moved by the C&O from Gilbert.

Kopperston, WV, is the other location someone mentioned where there was a conveyor through the mountain.

C&O and N&W battled it out for years, but eventually N&W prevailed. My buddy Chase has a pretty long video on the history of the Levisa Branch, including the story of N&W vs C&O in the area. I hope it can answer your questions.
