Winston Salem Southbound

Mikados 300 and 301 were built  new for WSS in 1925.  They were built at the 
same time as an order for 2-10-2's were being built for ACL by Baldwin. 
They eventially attained an N&W look with N&W tenders and pilots.  The two 
bought from ACL were 827 in 1950 and 834 in 1952.  They got ex-N&W tenders, 
but I think they kept their ACL pilots. Two N&W W-2's, 711 and 714 worked on 
WSS until the end of steam in 1957.  At some point 711 had an ex-ACL tender. 
When N&W started to replace steam with diesel, WSS did the same.

WSS is still in operation today, jointly owned by CSX and NS. A lot of
