Lamberts Point

Using Mapquest and my best estimate; the VGN pier at Sewells Point was 5 to 5.5 miles north of the VGN pier 5 at Lamberts Point.There seems to be no remaining satellite evidence of the VGN yard and pier.

  The N&W has had a secession of coal piers at Lamberts Point, viz:  Pier 1 1885, Pier 2 1891,  Pier 3 1901, Pier 4 1914, Pier 5 1936 (the active N&W coal pier at the time of the Virginian merger - Dec. 1959) and Pier 6  1962. 
  The N&W coal piers at Lamberts Point and the Virginian coal piers at Sewells Point were several miles apart (maybe 3 to 5 miles apart).    Maybe someone else can give a more accurate figure on the spacing.
