Has anyone observed/photographed this Hyco train pulling the grade up to Troutville from the James River crossing at Natural Bridge? That would be an excellent chase. Are they run on a somewhat consistent schedule? Daylight? Thanks, John Garner

Thanks to all who replied to my question regarding westbound coal through downtown Roanoke. I was not aware that southbound coal moved on the Hagerstown line. I learn many things from this group.

Comrade Smootkovsky :

Occasionally, in the great Ordo Mundi, railroads have sent entire trains to the wrong destination, and then been obliged to fetch 'em back and start all-over-again.

And yup, the Mighty Hawss Ray-Road has done that trick a time or two !

Not sayin' that is what you observed... just putting forward the possibility.
