The final runs of Trains 11-12 (formerly 21-22) Roanoke to Winston-Salem were on 2-18-1961 according to a photo I have with a consist of locos 520, 509 and six cars. According to the text by Ken Miller in N&W Passenger Service 1946-1971 the sleepers were removed in 1958.

Bill Schafer is working on an article for the SHRA TIES magazine about the Winston-Salem union station. (we toured this station during convention)

1) do you have any images of N&W trains in or near the old SOU 1904 station, which I understand N&W used?

2) do you know the dates of the last runs of trains 21-22? Did the sleeper disappear before the trains or was everything discontinued at the same time?
