Many thanks to Ken Miller for the information on date nails.
I never knew something so small had been researched so extensively.
I did download the 3 volumes of date nails by Professor Jeff Oaks.
Lots of reading, but am looking forward to it.
The earliest date nail I found on the Peavine was a 1931 in a tie around the Beaver Pond area.
There were ties used as fence post there that still had date nails in them. The newest was 1957.
By far the most seen were 1947, still in the main line around Jaybird road, Brookside siding, and the stretch of track west of the Scioto river bridge.
