Jeff,
I simply did a Google search. No idea for sure, but they are a possibility.

Kim -
Is this perhaps the same company? They've been in business since 1921 and offer products for industrial use.

Maybe the didn't spell it out, or didn't know to do so. This is a Mobile paint.

Can't speak to the "P-84" symbol, but
I didn't know Mobil had gone into the
paint business. Maybe they have, but
thought Mobil was in the petroleum
industry.
In the 60s and 70s, environmentalists
took a pretty strong position against
blasting lead-based paints off bridges.
Maintenance of Way forces would spread
tarps below the bridges to capture the
paint particles. Then there was the
problem of disposing of the spent paint.
N&W experimented with greasing bridges.
Results left a lot to be desired. In
hot weather, the steel would heat and
the grease would drip off. In one
instance, the paint dripped off the
Whiskey Run viaduct at Rook Yard
(Pittsburgh), landed on the free way to
the airport and caused motorists to
skid.
Maybe Mobil has come up with a petroleum
product that doesn't drip. Harry Bundy
