Rick - the front engine of 1218 was from 1218. The 1205 front engine had
multiple-bearing crossheads and could not be mistaken for a later-series A
front engine, and it was swapped with 1213 at Portsmouth Shops after 1205
was damaged in a wreck at Chattaroy. They gave 1205 the 1213's front engine
(which was similar to 1218's) to expedite its return to service.

For Shame! If you had the book about the A, you'd know all about that.

If I remember correctly, the front engine of 1218 was from 1205. Not sure
of the other circumstances, but I think this occured at Portsmouth shops.
