Thanks, Mason. Someone posted on Facebook that it could be Vansant, VA. In looking at the aerial imagery, it appears to be a likely match.

Curious to see if anybody can help identify the location of this photograph. 

It was part of a collection I scanned several years ago and is dated August 
9, 1956.
