------
Two Colored Men Die of Injuries Received Early This Morning
John Reed and Robert Mann, both colored, were mortally injured, and died later, when, at an early hour this morning, a freight train struck them at the Turkey Gap outlet track. Neither of the men were [sic] employed by the railroad company. Both were alive when found, but died later. It was said at the railroad offices that a complete report of the deaths had not been received.
[Turkey Gap mine was located at Wenonah near the end of the Bluestone Branch.]

THE GRAHAM DAILY NEWS
------
Prize Cow Story
Railroad men coming into Graham yesterday from the lower coal field tell one about a cow that got caught in the flood down there the first of the week that has the one beaten to a frazzle that the cow jumped over the moon. This latest bovine to win fame attempted to cross the swollen waters of Greenbrier creek near the home of the owner. She was washed one and one half miles down the creek into Panther Creek, two miles in Panther Creek into Tug River, one mile in Tug to Panther, where she looped the loop over the Panther dam. There she was rescued alive and uninjured by some colored men. It was just about milking time when the cow was floated to the shore and she was given a good meal, milked and penned up for the night. The owner drove the animal back home the following morning.
