Double headed J's?

Ken is correct.  Double headed J's were used to forward  Eisenhower's
campaign special Winston-Salem to the ACL at Petersburg on  9/26/52.
Steam power was turned on a loop at  Winston-Salem and with their rigid 
frame, the J's were pulled through the greased track  by a switch engine.
Engs 600-604 were relieved at Roanoke by 612-613.   Because 29% of
the J fleet had been knocked out of its usual cycle, N&W  scrounged up
A's, and unstreamlined K's to fill passenger  assignments.   Harry Bundy
