"Probably to get all cabs in one number series." 

Well, one would think that, eh? Until some 555's began showing up changed to 518 numbers. And is what really struck me as odd.

"I know of none 555xxx that were renumbered into 518xxx."

There used to be quite a few cabs stored in Roanoke yard. Some with unchanged numbers and some with changed numbers. They are gone now. Where I don't know.
