Special guest speaker for this Tuesday, October 20th at the Potomac Chapter, NRHS

This coming Tuesday evening the Potomac Chapter is proud to invite any
and all persons interested in meeting and hearing Mr. August Thieme as
our guest speaker at our monthly meeting in Rockville, Maryland.

Mr. Thieme as some of you may know took many fine stills and 16mm
movies of steam railroads in the late 1940's and early 1950's as well
as also being the author of an excellent book on the N&W in its last
years ... "The N&W, As I knew It" published by the N&W HS. Many of his
films have been transferred to video and we will see a selection of
some of what he took way back when most of were not yet around or were
unaware of the changing of the guard of the railroads. Much of what he
filmed was taken not too far from his home region near Richmond, Va.
and included the Southern, SAL, ACL, N&W and RF&P.

This is a rare opportunity indeed and probably one which if you miss,
you just might be sorry.

The location of our monthly meeting is at the Montgomery County
Executive Office Building at 101 Monroe Street in Rockville, MD. The
Potomac Chapter's information line with a recorded message is
301-946-9461. Our meeting is held only 3 blocks away from the
Rockville Metro station for those so inclined. Parking is free across
the street from the bank at the corner of Monroe and East Jefferson.
