READY TO SHIP COAL
------
Norfolk and Western Will Run Trains to Annawalt [sic] by February 7th

The Norfolk and Western will run trains to Annawalt on or about the 7th of February. Annawalt is the name of the new station at the head of the Tug Fork division and is located at what will be known as No. 12 works of the United States Coal and Coke Company. The new railroad station is in McDowell county about four miles from Pageton, and although the new tracks up to that point have been in course of construction for some time the work was delayed last year when the railroad company cut off its construction forces [there was a recession in 1907]. The new plant of the United States Coal and Coke Company is now ready to ship coal and it is said that two cars were on the sidetrack yesterday afternoon waiting to the hauled out. In a few days coal will be shipped from the new operation which is the twelfth operation to be opened in the Pocahontas district by the Pittsburg Company.
Whether any more new plants will be commenced has not yet been learned but it is expected that during the next few years the coal company will open up a number of new operations on their Tug Fork property as well as others in other sections of the country which are now being placed near a railroad on account of the opening of the Virginian railway.
