VIRGINIAN TO PURCHASE KANAWHA & MICHIGAN
------
Kanawha River Will be Bridged at Deepwater, Giving Rogers Line Outlet to Great Lakes
------
It is stated from a reliable source that the Virginian railroad will shortly purchase the Kanawha & Michigan railroad. Negotiations have either been completed or will shortly be completed, whereby the transfer will be made.
The Kanawha will be bridged at Deepwater to connect with the Kanawha & Michigan and secure an outlet to the Great Lakes.
One division will be from Charleston to Princeton, and thence to Roanoke.
New forces have been put to work to complete the line from Matoaka to Norfolk. The tunnels and bridges are nearly completed. The iron work of all the bridges is being rapidly completed and the work will be finished as expeditiously as possible.
-------
[The "reliable source" missed this one. The Virginian did not buy the Kanawha & Michigan, although the C&O attempted to do so two years later in 1910. Also, the Deepwater bridge over the Kanawha was not built until 1930.]
