Hundred Tons of Coal Stored in Chute Burned
------
Hagerstown, Md., August 3 -- The large coal chute on the Norfolk and Western Railroad [sic] at Shenandoah Junction, below this city, was destroyed by fire yesterday and more than 100 tons of coal stored therein were destroyed.
The fire started, it is said from sparks from an engine. As the chute collapsed, the coal fell on the tracks, blocking traffic. The coal continued to burn, and trains were held at that point by the fiery barrier for several hours. The loss is heavy.
