Jim,
I want to thank all the guys for their answers to my question about the Powhatan Arrow dome car. I just joined this mailing list group last week and I am amazed at the knowledge of the N&W, and all the other railroads, that has presented itself in the answers given by the members. I never worked for the railroad but I grew up in N&W country and a lot of the people I knew
did work for them. When I was 7 years old I got a Lionel "Scout", .027 gauge electric train for Christmas. That was in 1947. I still have the original engine and tender and it runs very well. Down through the years I have collected enough Lionel and MTH "O" gauge model trains and accessories to build a layout, which I did in the last several years. I retired in 2002 and put everything I had together and that's where I'm at today. And that's where the question about the Arrow dome car originated. I don't ever recall seeing the Arrow pull a dome car, altho I didn't know for sure. But I do now thanks to the members. The last piece of model equipment I purchased was an N&W Y6B 2-8-8-2 engine and tender "O" gauge by MTH with cab # 2197, of which I also have some photos of the real thing. I'm proud of it and and everybody that comes around always wants to see the mallett run. It is a beautiful engine and I remember it well from my youth in Bluefield. This mailing list has really been a blessing to me and I really enjoy it and I'm sure all the other guys do to. I have one more question to pose but I will save it for another day. Thanks a lot.

Dear Jack,
I purchased the five car set from Weaver models, 'THE POCAHONTAS" . It dosent have a baggage car or a dome car.
Weaver offers these sets in seven other road names, and they do have baggage cars but no domes.
I talked with weaver and they said that the research they did on the pocahontas is correct, so I researched it myself and they kept it accurate. As you know O scale modeling can be tricky. To give you an example, MTH 2008 -2 catalog offers a N&W C628 DIESEL ENGINE, with a low nose profile. I looked it up in Norfolk and western second generation diesels by paul withers and robert bowers and these engines were ordered in the High nose profile. So I probably wont add that to my collection. Good luck with your railroad.

Subject: The Powhatan Arrow
Hey Guys,
I collect 'O' scale electric trains. These are rather expensive large model trains, not toys. Anyway, I have a complete
Powhatan Arrow train set with the #611 engine. This train came with an overhead observation car. I grew up in Bluefield
during the '40s and '50s and I never recall seeing the Arrow pulling an overhead observation car. And the train passed
in front of our home twice a day in Bluefield, VA. It ran westbound at 3pm and back eastbound at 4pm. every day. Does
anybody know for sure if the Arrow ever pulled an overhead observation car? If it did then somehow I missed it, but if it
didn't then my Arrow model set is not quite as accurate as it should be. Thanks for any help with my curiosity.
