Was this not the home of C. E. Churchill, the chief civil engineer of the
N&W until his 'retirement' to head the valuation department in 1920?

Roanoke Landmark In Southeast Area Is Being Razed
Another Roanoke landmark will soon be gone.
The house at Orchard Hill and Mountain Ave., SE, for many years
the home of the late C. S. Churchill, vice president of the Norfolk
and Western Railway, is now being razed.
Lynn R. Hammond, owner of the property, said plans for the use of
the site are indefinite.
