Interstate Road Plans Reviewed By City, N&W

   Plans for the proposed interstate highway spur into Roanoke were 
reviewed by city officials and Norfolk and Western Railway 
representatives at a meeting yesterday.
   The spur has been planned to run from the interstate highway near 
Kingstown, north of Roanoke, through the Williamson road section and 
connect with Second street at Orange avenue, NW.
   City engineers now are planing to ask that the spur be extended 
across the N&W tracks parallel to the Hunter Memorial Bridge and on 
south of Elm avenue.
   This request is expected to be presented by the city at a State 
Highway Department public hearing on the interstate system April 15 
at 9:30 a.m. at Burlington School.
