RAN NINE MILES
AT HIGH SPEED, AND
OVER MANY SHARP CURVES
WITH BROKEN FLANGE
------
When passenger train No. 4, which left this city at 9:40 o'clock yesterday morning, reached Blake, nine miles east, it was discovered that the flange on one of the wheels of the mail car was broken, and it was evident that the break had occurred before the car left here. The train ran probably thirty miles an hour after getting clear of the yard, and as a number of sharp curves were rounded, it seems almost miraculous that it did not leave the track. At Blake the defective car was sidetracked, the mail transferred and the train proceeded east with little delay.
