N. & W. FLYERS
------
The new passenger engines on the Norfolk and Western are capable of 113 miles an hour. One engine is already in use and the others are being placed in shape at Kenova.

Bluefield Daily Telegraph
June 10, 1903

[These six would have been Class J 4-4-2s No. 600-605. No. 606 was built in 1904 and exhibited at the St. Louis Exposition according to Prince's book on the N&W. With 79" drivers, as contrasted with the modern Class J's 70" drivers, these 1903 locomotives could have been capable of 113 mph.]
